Save Your Summer Skin: Head-To-Toe Glow

The end of the summer season is quickly approaching and this means many of us are hustling to get back to school, work, and leave paradise. Just because our summer season is ending doesn’t mean your healthy summer glow has to too! Here are some tips to maintain your skin health after a season of sun exposure, SPF, and sea salt!

Step 1: Exfoliate Head-to-Toe

This will slough off all the dead skin revealing new and healthy skin. I like to use a Bath and Body Works Pretty As Peach Foaming Body Scrub on my bodyIt is great for my sensitive skin and also smells delicious!

For my face I prefer to use my Clarisonic or my Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. Weekly exfoliation of your face is imperative to preserve a youthful glow and to clear off skin clogging debris. It also makes your skin touchable soft!

Step 2: Moisturize

I absolutely LOVE to use Solar Recovery Mist during the summer on my body. It is a lightweight hydrating mist that repairs skin from sun damage and is packed with essential oils. I hate having to waist time rubbing in heavy lotions and oils. This spray does a great job on saving me time and does not feel the least bit heavy. It also has a great aroma.

On my face I like to use Mario Badescu‘s Rosewater Facial Spray. It is light weight and adds gentle hydration without feeling sticky. Because of my oily skin my T-Zone gets slimy (especially with summer heat) so I prefer this gentle spritz. It also adds a natural glow and will cool off a hot face!

Step 3: Sheet Masks

Sheets masks add an extra boost to your skin. The summer heat and overexposure to the sun’s rays can cause some damage to your skin, which results in a dry complexion that looks anything but glowy. To add back and maintain that summer glow, use a sheet mask like The Face Shop’s Lemon Sheet Masks twice a week. I included a How-To in this post titled Sheet Masks 101. unnamed-9.jpg

Step 4: SPF Protection

This the most important step in saving your summer skin, or rather saving your skin year round. Regardless of your ethnicity, an SPF should be used daily and reapplied every 30 minutes to 1 hour in order to prevent hyper pigmentation, premature wrinkles, melasma, and of course skin cancer. I like to use Supergoop! Defense Refresh Spray. It is very portable and the best part is you do not have to rub it in and it applies dry (so there is not an oily mess)!
