Trending: Nerd Skincare Review

Well, I know it has been quite a while since I last blogged about anything. However, I have something very exciting to share with you all and it involves a hot trend in skincare-NERD! As some of you probably have seen on your Facebook newsfeed, a new skincare line, Nerd Skincare, has launched and is wildly different from anything on the market.

What is Nerd?

  • A 3 Step skincare system for acne

Why is it different?

  • Uses vitamins and nutrients to balance your micro biome on your skin to clear acne
  • Essentially it strengthens and promotes good bacteria to fight the bad
  • Made without harsh chemicals (Benzoyl Peroxide, Salicylic acid)
  • Does NOT strip your skin
  • Calms aggravated skin

The Breakdown

Price: Full Set ($199), Cleanser ($20) Treatment ($85) Nourishing Cream ($95)

Yes, I know the price will make you cringe and hesitate to purchase. For myself, this was definitely where I became apprehensive. However, the full set can last anywhere between 2-4 months depending on the amount you use, and when I broke down the cost it made much more sense. I spent $90 every month on laser treatments for my skin, and it took about 4 months to get clear (total $360). In addition to that I used a BHA & AHA for aftercare which lasted about 4 months and they retail about $20-$25 a bottle each. So if I do the math I spent anywhere between $400-405 for a 4 month treatment to clear my skin. Economically, the Nerd skincare treatment was a better move.

What it claims to do:

The Nerd Skincare system was developed in order to promote the healthy bacteria in your body to fight against the bad ones. Unlike other treatments which strip your skin of good and bad bacteria to clear acne, Nerd feeds the good to fight the bad so it is your body that fights acne, not an artificial chemical.

The most appealing aspect of the skincare system for myself was that it evidently clears acne in as quick as 3 days. It also helps to keep the skin in balance so that it can better fight off acne, heal from damage, and produce a healthy glow.

  1. Cleanser: Non-foaming cleanser that does not strip the skin. Gently cleans the skin of debris and also prepares the skin for treatment.

I liked this cleanser, although I am not amazed by it. It certainly does not strip the skin and I did not feel tight after, but I still felt clean so I felt it was doing its job. Cleansers are really meant to just clean and prepare the skin rather than whip out ‘magic’ on your dermis. The packaging is incredibly attractive and I found that I preferred the squeeze tube rather than a pump because it has a thick consistency. I learned that a little goes a long way with this!

2. Treatment: A Quick absorbing liquid treatment that goes directly on erupted skin. Contains nutrients that feed good bacteria.

This is my absolute favorite treatment I have ever tried. Why? It is quick absorbing, non-irritating, and non-greasy. I put it only on the areas that need attention and by the next day the skin is not as red and irritated and the pimple is flat (yay!). Because the treatment does not have a BHA, I do not need to wait to put in other treatments, and I can use a vitamin C with it. The packaging is also very attractive for this treatment and I also like that it is a dropper bottle so that I can control how much product I apply. Although the price is much higher as compared to other treatments, it does not damage your skin and even works to calm aggravated and erupted skin.

3. Nourishing Cream: A non-greasy moisturizing cream that repairs skin damage caused by acne and harsh chemicals used in other anti-acne products

This cream is magic in a jar, and I do not say this lightly. I originally thought I would only be impressed with the treatment since I thought that was where most of the treatment occurred. What I did not realize was how much my skin needed nourishment in order to heal it. Immediately upon applying it (only a small amount is necessary for the entire face) I felt my skin feel really really really good. The only way I can describe it is my skin actually felt healthy. The cream is really light weight and helps to lightly moisturize the skin. I have oily skin and my skin did not feel overwhelmed by it. My twin has very dry skin and felt like it moisturized enough. Additionally, it neutralized the redness, and when I woke up the next day after first applying it my family immediately noticed how much better my skin looked. I wished I had this cream for those day where I was dry , red, and flaky from Benzoyl Peroxide!

Concluding Thoughts & Overview

Overall I think Nerd Skincare did an amazing job at producing products that truly work. Every product  worked the way it was stated it should and my skin has never felt so healthy. I previously used a Korean 10 step skincare system and found this simple system to work far better than any topical agent I have tried. I like the fact that my skin is being strengthened by these products rather than weakened. My skin cleared in 3-4 days and was significantly less red, and now I have a healthy glow! I am definitely going to purchase again and I suggest that if you are curious but cannot take the $199 plunge, purchase a sample kit! The sample kit lasted me about a week and a half in total which was long enough to experience the results.

Happy I found your page! I’ve been waiting for nerd samples to become available again, & finally getting one in the mail. I had no idea how long a sample size might last, (or how realistic other reviews were). Good to know, thanks!!

My friend used the samples for about a month and was very careful about not wasting products. I bought the full size and it lasted me quite a while! The cream I am still using and it has been 3 months since I started using it and I have quite a bit still left. I also still have plenty of the cleanser left. The one thing that goes rather quickly is the treatment. It lasted me around 2 months. I loved this product and it definitely keeps my skin healthy and clear!

        Hi Marisa!

The treatment definitely runs out quicker than the other products but I am happy to hear that you love this product! Keep me posted on any new updates please!

TERRIBLE. The lotion feels extremely heavy on the skin and leaves what looks like an oil slick on it all day. The products themselves aren’t exactly uncomfortable, and they certainly are NOT drying (so this might be best for people with dry skin, not normal like mine, or oily).

However, these took my skin from manageable to horribly broken out in less than a week, and my skin hadn’t looked this terrible since I was in high school. I discontinued use after Day 8 and went to Sephora to purchase a Murad starter kit, and that has been helping ever since.

NERD Skincare is absolutely a NO-NO, in my opinion, but I say that as long as you feel like trying it, go for it. Lots of reviews are on Reddit, as well, and those won’t appear on this site. For the price of this product, I think that it should have much better feedback.

I tried leaving a negative review once before on the site, and it never showed up after I hit submit. Sketchy.

The one drawback about NERD Skincare is if you have a sensitivity to sulfur it will cause a reaction. My sister is highly sensitive to sulfur and could not use it. Additionally, NERD products typically work to bring your acne to a head so that you can pop it and then put on the repairing cream. I do know of a ton of people who hate the product because it does cause that. I can tell you that I find Paula’s Choice skincare really helps to clear the skin. They offer a ton of samples and even have reduced kits so you can see how it works with your skin. Let me know how Murad works for you please!
